Company
The architectural origins of the company date back to 1982. Mahon & Fox was formally amalgamated as a limited company in 2003, bringing with it a wealth of experience in the fields of both architecture & engineering – the two main partners, Joseph J. Fox,* having operated his own Architectural Practice for the previous twenty-one years and similarly, John L. Mahon* having been in private practice as a Consulting Engineer
in Wexford since 1994. Our current complement of ten staff members includes a comprehensive team of technical personnel with varying areas of expertise and qualifications (including R.I.A.I, C.Eng/F.I.E.I, C.I.O.B. and C.I.A.T. accreditations). In particular we pride ourselves in the exceptionally high calibre of conceptual work (including urban planning, advanced 3D-imaging where appropriate, our in-house fire safety, plus health & safety capabilities, as well as being qualified/ registered to conduct Building Energy Rating Assessments (the principles of which are now being adopted proactively by way of increased environmental awareness in our design work).
As a professional practice, we are acutely aware of the three cornerstones (viz. quality, programme and budget) that underpin any successful project. The fact that such a significant volume of our current and ongoing workload is based on repeat work for long-standing clients is testament to our ability to deliver the required level of performance. We do of course carry full professional indemnity insurance requirements for all major (or indeed minor!) works.

Mission Statement
Our mission statement is to consistently provide a solid architectural/planning/project management service that makes our name synonymous with the word “professionalism”.
The Journey
Looking back over accumulated experience to date, we are by now in a strong position to rely on over a quarter of a century of first hand local practice, over which time a close working relationship has been forged with allied professions/businesses in the private and public sectors alike, thereby affording us a keen insight into the overall “bigger picture” of all aspects of development in the locality/region.
Translating this acquired knowledge and experience into the present tense, we consciously endeavour to impart our skills to place the client’s interest centre-stage by providing this service to the best of our ability.
Looking forward we are acutely aware of the rapid pace of change (both technologically and in regulatory terms) in our particular field of operation and have therefore actively adopted a philosophy of keeping pace through the encouragement of education and training, both collectively and individually. More specifically, since 2005 alone, 75% of our current core management & technical personnel have upskilled and advanced their qualifications and/or are currently partaking in courses relevant to current changes [including BER Assessor, plus Health & Safety courses, HomeBond lectures, fire safety & related architectural areas, plus close liaison with various manufacturers / CPD courses, etc.]. Furthermore, in terms of the onward development of the Company and to maintain a keen edge in a changing work environment, considerable re-investment is constantly allocated towards our operational systems, by researching and appropriately upgrading our hardware and software facilities in line with technological advancements in our particular area of work.

The Team
Of principal importance, our greatest asset is our team - the people who make Mahon & Fox what it is! Above all other areas, in terms of building the company, this has been the primary focus of management attention. We pride ourselves in commanding a relatively low turnover of personnel, with most of the current team having been with us for several years at this juncture – this fits with our philosophy of being able to provide a stable and solid service, along with offering continuity from our clients’ point of view.
Our medium to longer term objective, is to consolidate and refine the current strong position that we have built up by maintaining the current team and our ability to deliver, working in a predominantly regional context over a diverse range of project types and scales.
Our multi-disciplinary staff have attained accreditation from various professional bodies and we are actively committed to ongoing accreditation/professional development:-
Engineers Ireland – formerly known as The Institution of Engineers of Ireland (IEI)
Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT)
Royal Institute of Architecture of Ireland (RIAI)
